30th December 2011 - Grainthorpe

30th December 2011 - Grainthorpe
(Country Walking Route, 8.5 miles)

We set off after parking adjacent to the church in Grainthorpe village on a dry, cool December morning. The intention was to walk off several days of Xmas indulgence and also test some xmas walking gear aquired. (Paramo Mountain Vent pull on, Velez adventure trousers, and a Rab stretch neo jacket). Though today the waterproof test would not be conducted, due to lack of rain!

We set off around 10:00 through the village, then across waht appeared to be someones garden, and then across open field paths.

We came across a shooting party after a few miles (having heard shots some distance away).

From here we crossed the ditch and followed a long gravel track then a roadway for several miles before reaching Louth Canal, and a stop for Soup and sarnies.

We followed the Louth Canal bank for about a mile and a half before leaving it and more flat fileds and tracks to take us back to Grainthorpe village.

Not the most exciting walk, but a walk on a fine day is OK and it was pleasant enough.

Our Walk Score: 5/10
