Saturday 29th August 2015 - Anderby Creek Cycle

Saturday 29th August 2015 - Anderby Creek Cycle

Anderby Creek is a popular beach spot (and caravan park) between Sandilands and Chapel-St.-Leonards (not far from Mablethorpe/Skegness).

We arrived quite late and found the car park full (it was a bank holiday weekend though), but managed to park along with others by the road side.

Once the bikes were off the rack we set off towards the road we had come down but turned left across a bridge, before taking a right after about half a mile along a very rough track past a derelict cafe. The route here was very bumpy for about a mile and a hybrid or mountain bike is definitely required.

Once past this at a farm we headed left along a much smoother lane and enjoyed the long views across the flat countryside and noted the many combined harvesters busy harvesting the crops.

Quite nice shots of bailed straw and the wide expansive views of the Lincolnshire countryside.

After following lanes for several miles we reached the main road and followed this into the village of Mumby and liquid refreshment at the pub there. We sat in the beer garden for a while and after drinks (nice local Batemans ale) carried on back to meet the lane off the main road to Cumberworth.

The rest was along pleasant quiet lanes to Huttoft.....

Then again more quiet lanes to coast and back along busier road to Anderby Creek and the finish.

There is not a great deal at Anderby Creek other than a nice beach and caravans, a pub and shop selling food (and rather bad ice cream!)

It was a very pleasant cycle route, with just a few busier sections, but mostly the lanes were quiet indeed and all flat going. An easy 14 miles.

Our Cycle Score: 7.5/10
