A dull monday morning we departed our hotel in Anglesey and decided to head for Llandudno (after a quick stop at the place with the longest name: Llanfairphwylll.........)
A quick tour around the shops in Llandudno, the weather stayed dull but dry in the afternoon so we took the cable car up to the top of the Great Orme.
Whilst at the top we were browsing various leaflets and spotted one for a talk by explorer Sir Ranulph Fiennes , which was to take place at the Cymru venue in Llandudno on Friday.
A quick telephone call for ticket availability and off we went to the venue to book tickets.
Tickets bought we found some rather bad fish and chips from Llandudno's "award winning - best in resort 2010" establishment and then drove further east out of the National Park to our next hotel in Ruthin.
Ruthin Castle Hotel
We arrived at Ruthin Castle hotel to find exactly that...... an old castle!
We checked in and were shown to our room on the 3rd floor. The room was very large, decorated in an old style, but with all moderm amenities, including a large flat screen TV and air conditioning.
The views from the windows were stunning, out to the countryside and the castle grounds below.
All this for just over £40 for the room per night, and that included a bakery breakfast with much choice of juices, cereals, breads, cheeses, meat and fruits. Cooked items could be ordered for a small supplement. KGB deals had come up trumps here!!
The visitor to our room window, came at no additional cost......
We were booked in for three nights.
Arriving back we ate in the hotel bar Tuesday evening.
The food was reasonably priced and excellent at around £50 for the both of us for two courses and a few drinks.
