Sheffield Motorpoint Arena 18th June 2013
We arrived at the arena in good time taking our seats a bit before the support act.
The support act Vintage Trouble were a retro blues rock type band, a bit blues brotherish.
There were good, maybe not our thing, but the lead singer certainly engaged with the crowd. At one point he ran out through the auditorium aisles getting in amongst the crowd for most of one song. At the end they came off stage walking through the aisles and exiting at the back of the arena for a meet and greet outside. All good stuff.
Before long it was time for The Who to come on stage and we were not disappointed.
Whilst not completely familiar with all the ins and outs of the Quadrophenia album the show was very enjoyable with much going off onstage.
Daltrey and Townshend certainly gave a professional well practiced show, with both good (maybe not always fantastic vocals) and guitar with a few guitar windmills thrown in for good measure. The memory of Keith Moon was evident with several video pieces of drumming and some vocal clips as he "joined" the band in tonights performance, at least on video footage.
Quadrophenia was played in full with only a few natural vocal breaks, and after a very short break, the encore was made up of a catalogue of some of the best known Who hits.
All in all it was an enjoyable evening of good music and entertainment.
