Liverpool 12th May 2015 St John's Beacon

Liverpool- St.John's Beacon (Radio City) Tour

Tuesday 12th May 2015

We stayed overnight at the Premier Inn near Liverpool Airport, and after hearty breakfast caught the bus into Liverpool City Centre.

Tickets had been booked via Travelzoo to go up the St.John's Beacon for views of the Liverpool skyline.

The tower was built in 1969 and is 452ft in height. It did originally operate as a revolving restaurant, but was redeveloped in 1999 as Radio City (local radio station), and open to the public as an observatory.

The lift took 30 seconds to reach the top and a narrow viewing platform allows views through very large sloping windows virtually unobstructed.

We spent around 30-45 mins at the top before alighting at the lift for the short journey down and spent the remainder of the day perusing shops around Liverpool One, before catching the bus back to the Airport Premier Inn.
