Trans-Pennine Trail (16 Miles)
A sunny Saturday we decided on a cycle ride from Hornsey and along the Trans-Pennine trail towards Hull. The full distance to Hull along the trail from Hornsey is around 17 Miles (then return), so we elected to cycle about half-way and back.
Its a good hour and fifteen mins or so drive from Cleethorpes to Hornsey, and we parked up in a large car park near the leisure centre and sea front. Then to get to the start of the trail you head back through the town and a very prominent (start, or end) to the Trail which runs around 200 miles west to the other side of the country at Southport.
The trail, in the most part was pretty good, if not a little narrow in places, and was initially fairly busy with dog walkers.... it was the weekend after all.
Very soon we were out into open countryside, and vivid yellow rapeseed cropped fields and very flat terrain.
A nice day, and an easy cycle.
We headed back after cycling sbout 8 miles, stopped for a drink at some picnic benches where there was a car park and even more dog walkers. The middle section was largely dog walker free though, and just a few other cyclists.
A nice afternoon and a pleasant cycle, nothing more to be said, we headed home happy.
Our Cycle Ccore: 7/10
