5th April 2016- York Railway Museum

5th April - York Railway Museum

A rainy few days on a mid-week break near York, we decide to visit the National Railway Museum. Its free entry, though car parking was I think about £9.

Some classic Diesel-electric locomotives, below is a class 31, that was often seen hauling freight around the OK in the 80s and early 90s.

Below a huge Chinese steam loco....

One of my favourite locomotives... Class 55, better known as the "Deltic".

We were lucky enough to be able to visit the footplate of the "Flying Scotsman". There was a long queue but it was worth the wait.

Then we backtracked to the Deltic and had a sit in the cab....

The Mallard is still there, though not in the main hall now...

It was busy.....

Class 87 - Electric Locomotive, often seen in the 80s wiping down the West Coast Main Line.

Grimsby & Cleethorpes, like been back at home.....

Japanese Bullet Train.....
